Welcome to Newborn & Family Care

Newborn & Family Care of N.E., LLC is a group practice of women who love to work with new moms and babies. You can learn more about us here.

Many of us have performed this work for many years. It is what we love to do, this is our calling! It is a specialized service, one that takes place when the Mom gets discharged from the hospital with baby, or babies and then needs help once at home. Click here to see what we do to help out your family.

Some of us are post partum doulas (trained with DONA, CAPPA or other agencies), and others are experienced mothers of children who miss that tiny newborn to hold and rock and walk and love!

We educate, nurture and guide new families to help out how to integrate this new little life into their family. A baby is a blessing. They are also a lot of work! Like any new job, it is so much easier to be shown and guided with the details of the position instead of guessing every minute and with every action. There is much less anxiety when there is a calming, experienced presence with you.

Call us right now with your questions. 508-380-0491 is my direct line. Whether your baby is already here, or on its way in a few months, we will be able to sit down with you and create a post partum plan designed for you. We can figure out if you need our services for one night, a few weeks, or, sometimes with multiples, for a few months.

The two most frequently asked questions are:
WHEN WILL MY BABY SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT?
AND
HOW CAN I TELL IF MY BABY IS GETTING ENOUGH MILK FROM MY BREAST?

We offer services in the following areas:

Daytime in-home care

When a newborn comes home from the hospital, there is always a learning curve. How to bathe, swaddle, change diapers, change outfits, feed the baby and stop the crying seem to be the biggest hurdles. Having someone as a calming presence to reassure, nurture, encourage and listen is a Godsend!

Daytime in-home Caregivers are knowledgeable, experienced women who focus on service to the family. They educate and empower the parents with tips, techniques and suggestions on how to care for their new babies.

With a high incidence of Cesarean Section births, those new moms need more help! Major surgery can be difficult to navigate with pain, medications, and, sometimes, complications. Our Caregivers are there to bring the baby to you, and to allow you to rest and recuperate while caring for you and your baby.

All the details of caring for your newborn (diaper changes, cord care, circumcision care, feeding a bottle, burping, swaddling, holding and walking or rocking and general comfort measures to decrease crying will be done while you are resting.)

Overnight in-home care

The caregiver cares for baby while Mom & family sleeps. The Caregiver will bring the baby to Mom to breastfeed, or, give a bottle of breast milk provided by Mom, or a bottle of formula only as directed by the parent.

During the night, it is expected that The Caregiver will change soiled diapers, burp and hold the baby for 30 minutes after the feeding before placing the newborn into the crib or bassinet provided. Of course, if baby is fussy, The Caregiver will hold, walk and rock the baby until baby is settled and then place in the crib or bassinet provided. **The goal is to allow parents to sleep, while at the same time, encouraging baby to feed and sleep. We always encourage soft lighting before bedtime. Many a time, a newborn will sleep days and be awake during the night. The Caregiver uses their knowledge and skill to turn that around.

Nightime is dark, and quiet for the most part. The Caregiver can, often times, provide organizational help by folding baby laundry, re-stacking the baby station, and washing baby bottles, nipples, and breast pump equipment. When all is done and quiet, The Caregiver sometimes dozes while listening for the next cycle of feeding and holding occurs. Providing a pillow & blanket is always appreciated.
