Preemies

A Premature birth is one that takes place more than 3 weeks before the baby's due date.‎ ( a birth that occurs before the start of the 37th week of pregnancy).

Each baby is unique, but, there may be particular problems when a preemie is discharged to home.‎ Many times, the newborn can have latching problems with breast feeding. They get exhausted during the feeding and may have reflux issues. (Spitting up regularly with crying and discomfort) and Mom has no idea if the baby has gotten enough breast milk during the feeding.

Our in home, sensitive, respectful support is appreciated because we have the experience and knowledge with helping a new family to get to know their new baby. It is a hands on type of educational experience.

In the hospital environment, the staff is excellent at showing the new Mom how to breast feed; bathe, dry, and dress the baby, change diapers, care for the umbilical cord, and/or circumcision. And all the while the new Mom can rest, get fed regular meals, and get guidance whenever she needs some help.

That all changes at home. Very few people grasp all that important information after they've been shown one time. The Mom may take from a few days to a few weeks to feel comfortable and settle into a routine with baby. Help from family members isn't always possible. They are separated from their parents and siblings by great distances. And, when a family member is able to visit and help out, it may be for a week or a long weekend.

We are a phone call away. Newborn & Family Care caregivers love what they do, and get great satisfaction nurturing and educating new families. This is our job. This is what we do!

Our goal is to empower the new parents to nurture and care for themselves and their new baby (ies).‎ When we complete our assignment, we want the parents to have confidence in their ability to continue to have a happy and successful family life.
